And no, not the hooker you can get off the streets for a sum of money.
^ Kawaii deshou? Very moe too ^^;
I don’t know how many of you have heard of Anime Game Text Hooker (AGTH) but it is a tool you should actually have on your computer (for those playing Japanese games). Really really useful!
So why is this tool so great then? (Not as great as Kagami the Great XD)
^ Kagami the great! (Need uncropped pic)
It basically extracts text from the game and prints it out onto it’s own AGTH screen where you can then copy, and paste it into translation software/sites and translate the text that seems like moonspeak to something intelligent!
I heard about AGTH and Oh! Text Hooker (sort of considered the predecessor of AGTH) probably 2 years back, but didn’t really got to use it as I wasn’t actively playing Japanese games (Including eroges) (Not that I do now ^^;). Another reason was the availability of HCGs floating around on the internet. Decided to try this out this time as I just started playing Little Busters! and needed to know how to read those difficult kanjis that keep popping up ^^;
Copy from AGTH screen, paste into WWWJDIC site, add in missing Hiragana/Katakana and translate! I also keep a notepad document containing the kanji that I do not know. Good way to improve my Japanese.
Don’t know if it is supposed to function this way but my AGTH seems to capture only the kanji(s) – not that I’m complaining but I prefer the Hiragana and Katakana to be copied as well. Makes it a whole faster to translate ^^;
For those who like to try AGTH can download it from the main site <Link>
There is Oh! Text Hooker as well <Link> , never used it before but the webmaster also did recommend giving AGTH a go. There is also a in-depth AGTH Tutorial <Link> done by a member of a forum I used to frequent. It includes screenshots as well so you really can’t get lost ^^;

There is an easier way to use AGTH.
You can use a japanese to english translation program like Atlas in combination with it : AGTH can copy the extracted text to the clipboard, while Atlas can automatically translate text put into it.
So you can use the two programs together, and have the text automatically translated, and it is pretty fast.
Does it work with chinese? *redownloads SUN online*
Sounds time consuming o.o
thanks for the info. shall continue playing my *ahem* games!! utawarerumono and .tan, wo lai le~~
@Skh: i do know of ATLAS, but the thing is that ATLAS isn’t really accurate at times and I’m studying Japanese atm. Trying to do away with most of the translation programs ^^; Thanks for heads-up anyway
@Aheda: I think it is Japanese only for AGTH 9Never tried with other games though). Oh! Text Hooker also Korean outputs as well.
@Lenners: Though it’s time consuming, I believe it will have a significant impact on my Japanese as I continue to play.
@tiny Red Man: No worries mate! You can now enjoy your *ahem* games :)
Seems like I am the only one here who doesn’t play Japanese games… Sigh.. I don’t look like an avid anime fan man…
Windbell, pass me some of your *ahem* games…
NOW.. or something.
I had it installed and I was meaning to try it on Gadget Trial, but I wonder why I never did…?
@ルルーシュ.ランペルージ: Like I said, I don’t play them. And you can grab them of Tokyotosho yourself.
@Zeroblade: Haha. Lack of time probably?
sounds *chim*
Finish the game for me and spoil it comrade, since I don’t have time to play it anymore.
@LianYL: はい!解りました!

I had the same problem as yours, but a quick ask in hongfire solved my problems:

Apparently, the REALLIVE engine thing that Key loves to use doesn’t like AGTH. Go to the guy’s site, download the patch for reallive, patch up your Little Busters’ REALLIVE.exe file, then run the AGTH. All the kana and kanji should display perfectly after that.
@infested_ysy: Thanks for the heads-up! Will try it out when I get back home. Hope it speeds up my game process ^^;
>Hope it speeds up my game process ^^;
It really does. I used to be like you last week, copy pasting the broken texts and fill in the missing characters, before passing it through JDIC. It’s just repetitive and pointless >_>

My partner and I stumbled over here from a different web page and thought I might as well check things out. I like what I see so now i am following you. Look forward to looking at your web page yet again.
Very good blog you have here but I was curious about if you knew of any user discussion forums that cover the same topics discussed here? I’d really love to be a part of community where I can get comments from other experienced people that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Many thanks!
That is the correct weblog for anyone who desires to search out out about this topic. You realize so much its almost arduous to argue with you (not that I truly would want…HaHa). You undoubtedly put a brand new spin on a subject thats been written about for years. Great stuff, just nice!
Hola recien lo dseracgo, lo provare para luego decir como me fue, pero les adelanto que esto de los softwares es muy importante para el desarrollo de los universitarios y no la porqueria de esos ingenieros que ensef1an a lo antiguo, es decir solo teoria
